"More than a professional commitment, a social responsibility"
We at MEW sincerely believe that besides our professional obligations we also have a social responsibility. Our teams have the strong backing of none other than the world-renowned maritime service provider SMIT Salvage .B.V.
Collapse of Karachi Shipyard Dock Gate:
This led to two vessels (Harbour Tug and Split Barge) of Karachi Port Trust undergoing repairs, to capsize. Crude Oil Tanker “Tasman Spirit” Runs Aground:
Oil Tanker Tasman Spirit was grounded at Karachi Harbour during July 2005. The Tanker suffered a structural failure resulting breaking into two sections. SMIT was awarded the contract to recover the remaining pumpable oils and to remove the forward and aft sections of the vessel. 2 Sheer legs of 1000 and 1500 ton lifting capacity, 3 salvage tugs, Semi-submersible work barge, accommodation vessel and equipment from Netherlands, Singapore, Middle East and more than 200 salvage personnel from 11 nations geared up to undertake this complex and challenging job. Both sections of the broken Tanker were successfully delivered to local scrap yard in Gadani well ahead of schedule. MEW played a pivotal role in securing the contract, served as local agent of SMIT. The tasks were to clear the wreck, craft, personnel and salvage equipment.
